Shiraz 2014
Langhorne Creek
Heartland Shiraz is an elegant and pure expression of one of Australia’s most iconic varieties. The Langhorne creek climate and the sandy loam soils make for a Shiraz that is savory, rich and yet balanced and restrained.
VINEYARD
The vineyards are notably affected by the The “Lake Doctor” phenomenon, a cool ocean breeze that comes across the nearby and substantial Lake Alexandrina every afternoon and moderates temperatures, bringing them down 30-40 degrees. The overall heat that vineyards see, as a result, in some years is more equivalent to a cool climate region like Alsace, yet the fruit still achieves fantastic, intense ripeness.
WINEMAKING
The Shiraz was de-stemmed, crushed and pumped over twice a day for ten days. The wine matured for 14 months in oak prior to bottling. Grapes normally reserved for the Directors’ Cut Shiraz have been used in this vintage of Heartland Shiraz. We hope you will agree this is the best Heartland Shiraz yet.
VINTAGE
2014 followed the classic road of a late vintage accompanying a late Easter. Deep soil moisture from a traditional winter flood bolstered us against the warm summer days, as did the cooling Langhorne Creek winds. The region was spared the late February rains that harried other regions in South Australia.
TASTING NOTE
The deep ruby color foreshadows aromas of black currants and raspberry compote. These notes are echoed on the palate and complimented by dark chocolate and a dusting of nutmeg. The intensity of the fruit sits in perfect balance with the texture of the wine.

"It's a high-quality fruit bomb"
Jeb Dunnuck - July 24, 2018 “The 2014 Shiraz comes from Langhorne Creek and was brought up all in French and American oak. It’s a spicy, peppery, complex and medium-bodied effort that has plenty of fruit, as well as integrated acidity and a clean finish. It’s a high-quality fruit bomb to enjoy over the coming couple of years.”
