VINEYARD

Characteristic of Friuli are its fertile soils and the ideal microclimate brought about by the particular positioning of these lands set as they are between the sea and the vegetation-rich mountains. The harsh cold of the mountainous areas is mitigated by the gentle sea breezes, which bring with them the brightness of the water refraction of the Adriatic, supporting the ripening of healthy, turgid grapes rich in aromatic substances. This balance of such powerful natural elements ensures the ideal conditions for varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay.

WINEMAKING

The grapes are harvested by hand, softly pressed, and the must left to rest for 24-48 hours. Subsequently a low temperature fermentation takes place in a combination of stainless steel tanks and wooden barriques (10%), for a period of 15 days, between 59-64 degrees Fahrenheit. Following the fermentation, the wine rests for four months on noble lees often kept in suspension.

VINTAGE

The 2024 Friuli growing season faced challenges, with persistent rain and high disease pressure requiring significant vineyard management. Harvest began earlier than expected, with Pinot Grigio picked in late August and other varieties in early September. Weather fluctuations between rain and warmth resulted in slower ripening, but despite these conditions, the grapes showed good health, compact skins, and no mold. With strong sugar and phenolic content, the 2024 vintage made wines with power and poise.

Sauvignon Blanc

Venezia Giulia IGT

Attems Sauvignon Blanc, like others from the region, remains a hidden treasure. The wines can be compared in fruit ripeness to Sancerre, with a more intense bouquet as well as a lusher weight and texture. Attems shows how the value of quality-driven, artisanal producers can be extraordinary.

Pinot Grigio Ramato Rosé

Attems Pinot Grigio Ramato continues a traditional way of producing Pinot Grigio in the province of Venice. The term ramato, or "coppery", was used to describe the pink hue of the wine due to the slight contact with the purple skins before pressing and fermenting. This rosé boasts a rich, fruity bouquet, and opens full on the palate, with multi-faceted flavors.

Cicinis

The Cicinis Sauvignon Blanc is an utterly distinctive expression of Sauvignon Blanc. From a single vineyard in the Collio area, the tremendous density and aromatics are joined by a deep and complex texture due to the aging in oak barrels and cement eggs. Truly the Attems flagship.
